British No.1s Joel Makin and Georgina Kennedy have been named as the top seeds for the upcoming 2025 British National Squash Championships, which will take place at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club in Weybridge between 26-30 August.
World No.4 Makin returns to defend the title he won last August when he defeated former World No.1 Mohamed ElShorbagy in a thrilling 85-minute final.
The two-time British National champion will begin his campaign against a qualifier, before a potential quarter-final against [5/8] seed Adrian Waller and a semi-final clash with up-and-coming [3/4] seed Jonah Bryant.

World No.7 Mohamed, winner of the event in 2022 and 2023, is seeded to face England teammate Curtis Malik [5/8] in the last eight if he comes through his opening match against a qualifier. Meanwhile, World No.5 Marwan opens up in round one against a qualifier, before a potential quarter-final bout with [5/8] seed Nick Wall.
If both Mohamed and Marwan were to come through their respective quarters, they could face one another for the first time at the British Nationals, with a blockbuster semi-final potentially on the cards.

World No.9 Kennedy claimed her first British Nationals title last year after defeating Sarah-Jane Perry in a hard-fought four-game final – reversing the scoreline from the women’s final three years prior to that.
The London-based 28-year-old will get her defence underway in Weybridge against a qualifier, before potential ties against [5/8] seed Grace Gear and [3/4] seed Georgia Adderley in the quarter and semi-finals.

Two-time champion Murphy has enjoyed previous success at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club after reaching the final at this venue back in 2023 – a match which she was eventually forced to withdraw from due to injury. The Welshwoman is likely to face off against [5/8] seed Torrie Malik in the last eight if the pair come through their opening matches.
Meanwhile, England’s Turmel will start her campaign against a qualifier, before a potential quarter-final meeting with [5/8] seed Alicia Mead.
England’s Bailey Malik and Wales’ Ellie Breach have been awarded spots in the main draw after winning the Wildcard Challenge at last year’s event.
Both tournaments will feature a qualifying event on August 26, with four players from both events progressing to the main draw, which begins on August 27.
